Nothing like being cooped up to make you start ticking things off your to-do list! I’m no designer by any means but I’ve had a little fun putting together a fresh new look to Kiwishful’s logo for the website and social media accounts.
Fresh colour palette
I opted to keep the hand-drawn typography style but I updated it and used Serif Affinity Designer to create a vector version. I had initially been going to keep the Kiwi green colour but felt it might not translate well across different monitors. Whilst it looks lovely and bright on mine, I run the risk of it turning slimy on monitors that aren’t configured the same.
I was initially going to use for beachy blues, then Pantone’s colour of the year, Classic Blue. Once it was all laid out though, it was a little too close to my former employer’s old logo which I know too well (obviously etched in my subconscious for all time).
I was looking through images of New Zealand for fresh inspiration when I stumbled across some vintage travel posters. There was even the one that had caught my eye on our first visit to Geraldine of Mount Cook. Perfect!
From these posters, I chose my new colour palette which I feel manages to be original yet retro at the same time.
I kept the swoosh of paint but again opted for a vector version. With my new logo ready to go, I’ve updated the site icon and social media accounts too.
Before and after…
